As well as Irish translations for the English content, this dictionary also contains grammatical information and sound files in which you can hear how words are pronounced in different dialects. This feature could be useful if you are unsure how to pronounce words you may meet in your child’s readers or homework. The dictionary also has an app that you can buy at a low price.

Did you know that the TG4 online player has podcasts of some of their most popular children’s programmes, as well as stories being read aloud by well-known Irish personalities? Check out the children’s section on their website to find a programme all the family will enjoy and learn from.

Seo acmhainn iontach ó TG4. Clár álainn cócaireachta le Muireann Ní Chíobháin agus a cairde óga. ​This is a great resource from TG4. A fun cookery programme as Gaeilge with Muireann and guest children. A great feature is the recipe section – you can access recipes from the programme in Irish or in English (choose the language at the top of the page). Another fun part of the site is the Song section where you can click on each of the programme’s songs, get the lyrics and sing along!

​Snas ar Scéal is a wonderful resource developed by the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment in Northern Ireland to help children improve their writing skills in Irish. It contains both printed resources and interactive games to develop children’s writing skills on a wide range of themes: weather, feelings, colours and lots more. This resource is available as Gaeilge only.

Did you know that you can access some of the Séideán Sí junior and senior infant Irish readers online? The activities on this site can help reinforce the work done in the classroom during the day and you can have fun reading with your child and playing some of the interactive games together.

    Dónall was hurt during a hurling game on Saturday. He was taken to hospital and spend the night there. We have to go back to the hospital today to get an x-ray on his left leg.

  • Tá deilgneach ar Chiara. Dúirt an dochtúir liom í a choimeád ón scoil ar feadh coicíse
    Ciara has chicken pox. The doctor said to keep her at home from school for a fortnight.

  • Tá múchadh ar Lúc agus níl cead aige rith.
    Lúc has asthma and he is not allowed to run.

    Pádraig fell from a bike and he hurt his knee. He can’t walk properly and he has to use crutches.

    His glands in his neck were swollen and he wasn’t able to eat.

    Tomás broke his wrist and he won’t be able to write for five weeks.

    Oisín hasn’t done any homework. He knocked a cup of hot tea on himself. He burned his hand and I had to go to A&E with him. It was late when we got home.

    Lúsaí hasn’t done any reading as she had laryngitis.
